Mithun Manhas appointed as the new BCCI President, replaces Roger Binny as President number 37 of the board.
At the board’s 94th annual general meeting, former Delhi captain Mithun Manhas was chosen as the new BCCI president. He is the 37th elected president of the BCCI; five interim appointments have presided over the organisation.
Since former India all-rounder Roger Binny resigned from the position in August of this year, Manhas was the lone candidate vying for the presidency. Since then, Rajeev Shukla, the vice-president of the BCCI, has held the role in an acting capacity.
Devajit Saikia remains the board secretary, while Shukla assumes the role of vice-president. Former Karnataka and India spinner Raghuram Bhat has taken over as treasurer, adding another cricketer to the BCCI office bearers. Bhat served as the Karnataka State Cricket Association from 2022 to 2025; he will formally step down on September 30. The new joint secretary is Prabhtej Singh Bhatia.
Meanwhile, S Sharath and Subroto Banerjee have been replaced on the senior national men’s selection panel by Pragyan Ojha and RP Singh. Ajit Agarkar, whose term ends with the 2026 T20 World Cup, is in charge of the committee. Ajay Ratra and SS Das are also members.
Manhas was a member of the subcommittee that the BCCI formed to manage the Jammu & Kashmir Cricket Association. He will turn 46 in October. After moving from Delhi to Jammu and Kashmir in 2015, Manhas, who was born in Jammu, retired the following year. Since then, he has served as a coach for a number of teams, including the Gujarat Titans, Kings XI Punjab (formerly known as Punjab Kings), Royal Challengers Bengaluru, and the Bangladesh men’s Under-19 team. He has also served as a batting consultant for these teams.
Manhas, a titan of Indian domestic cricket, participated in 157 first-class matches from 1997–1998 to 2016–17, scoring 9714 runs; 130 List A matches, scoring 4126 runs; and 91 Twenty20 matches, scoring 1170 runs.
