5 Retentions allowed in WPL Mega Auctions with the deadline for player registration set for as November 18.
Through direct retention or the Right to Match (RTM) option, the Women’s Premier League (WPL) governing council has allowed clubs to re-sign up to five players from their current rosters. Each club would receive INR 15 crore to reassemble its team for the forthcoming season, according to confirmation from the BCCI.
The WPL mega auction is slated for November 26–29, and franchises have been requested to confirm their retentions by November 5.
A squad may keep up to three Indian-capped players, two foreign players, or two Indian players without caps, under BCCI regulations. At least one player must be uncapped if a team chooses to keep the entire five-player allotment.
A team that keeps five players will not be eligible for any RTM cards and will have INR 9.25 crore taken out of its purse. those that keep four players will only receive one RTM and lose INR 8.75 crore, but those that keep three players will have access to two RTMs, and so on.
It will cost INR 50 lakh to retain each uncapped player. Additionally, franchises are permitted to pay retained players more than the specified slabs; the excess money will be subtracted from their purse.
Players must register by November 18; the BCCI will release the final player list for the auction on November 20.
