Dyche and Mancini the frontrunners for vacant Forest job following Ange Postecoglou’s dismissal yesterday.
Only seventeen minutes after Nottingham Forest’s 3-0 loss to Chelsea at the City Ground on Saturday, head coach Ange Postecoglou was fired.
Postecoglou’s tenure at Forest is the shortest permanent managerial tenure in Premier League history, as the Australian was fired 39 days after being appointed on September 9.
Former Manchester City manager Roberto Mancini is another potential replacement for Postecoglou, and Forest has contacted former Everton manager Sean Dyche, according to sources who spoke to BBC Sport.
During his eight games as Forest’s manager, Postecoglou had two draws and six losses in all competitions.
With just one point from Postecoglou’s five Premier League games as manager, Forest was in the bottom three after the games later that day and one point above the relegation zone in 17th place when he left.
“Nottingham Forest Football Club can confirm that after a series of disappointing results and performances, Ange Postecoglou has been relieved of his duties as head coach with immediate effect,” a Forest statement read.
“The club will make no further comment at this time.”
Sergio Raimundo, Mile Jedinak, and Nick Montgomery are among the employees of Postecoglou who are anticipated to depart.
Evangelos Marinakis, the owner of Forest, was at the City Ground to watch Chelsea lose, but he was seen getting up from his seat in the 67th minute.
Postecoglou was not given the news by him; instead, a senior club official informed the 60-year-old, albeit this is not uncommon.
Postecoglou then bid his players farewell, expressing regret that things had not gone as planned and that he had failed to fulfil his role.
