Women’s World Cup marred as two Australia players molested when the players were walking to a cafe on Thursday.
Two Australian players molested in Indore during Women’s World Cup.
In Indore, where they are scheduled to play South Africa in their final league match of the Women’s World Cup on Saturday, two Australian players were “touched inappropriately” by a biker. On Thursday, the morning following Australia’s victory over England in Indore, the incident happened while the players were making their way to a cafe.
“CA can confirm two members of the Australian Women’s team were approached and touched inappropriately by a motorcyclist while walking to a cafe in Indore,” Cricket Australia said in a statement. “The matter was reported by team security to police, who are handling the matter.”
News sources state that the Indore police have detained a suspect.
Although they now lead the World Cup points standings, Australia needs to win to maintain their lead. South Africa will go to Guwahati to play England in the first semi-final on October 29, while India will play them in the second semi-final on October 30 in Navi Mumbai if they finish first.
South Africa will finish first in the points standings and face India in the second semi-final, while Australia will finish second and face England in the first.
