Tamim Iqbal decides to give upcoming BPL season a miss, with the eventual decision not really coming as a surprise.
Tamim Iqbal, a former captain of Bangladesh, has asked the board to remove his name from the player’s auction, which is set for November 23. As a result, he has opted not to participate in the forthcoming Bangladesh Premier League. Yesterday, the left-handed hitter verified the development.
“Yes (I am not taking part in BPL) as I have requested Shahriar Nafees (BCB cricket operation manager) to remove my name from players draft,” Tamim told this website.
Tamim participated in every BPL tournament from its creation in 2012 and was regarded as one of the best hitters in the league.
Tamim’s effectiveness as a captain and hitter on several occasions was crucial in helping Fortune Barishal win multiple titles.
Given a number of factors, including his health and Fortune Barishal’s decision to withdraw from the competition due to a lack of preparation time, Tamim’s decision to withdraw from the competition was not shocking.
After suffering a heart attack during a domestic match in March 2025, the 36-year-old has not played professional cricket since. Since then, he has prioritised his recuperation over playing again.
