Pollard succeeds Pooran as MI Emirates skipper for ILT20 which will kick off from the coming Tuesday, December 2.
The captain of MI Emirates for the forthcoming ILT20 season, which begins on December 2, is Kieron Pollard.
Following the league’s first auction, Pollard, 38, and Nicholas Pooran were revealed by MIE as wildcards.
In the ILT20, Pollard replaces Pooran as captain. Pooran will also represent MI Cape Town in the SA20, where the two leagues will partially collide. With 720 appearances, Pollard holds the record for most caps in T20 cricket and is just 326 runs away from overtaking Chris Gayle as the format’s top run scorer. With a strike rate of 151.23 and an average of 31.85, Pollard has amassed 14,237 runs. Pollard will work with former India allrounder Robin Singh, the coach, at MIE.
Ackeem Auguste, Romario Shepherd, and Andre Fletcher give MIE a stronger West Indian vibe. At the first ILT20 auction in October, wicketkeeper-batter Fletcher received the top bid of USD 260,000.
Six teams will compete in a total of 34 games during the ILT20’s fourth season, which will take place in Abu Dhabi, Dubai, and Sharjah from December 2 to January 4.
On December 4 in Dubai, MIE will begin their campaign against Gulf Giants.
