Voges set to coach the Seattle Orcas in The MLC and will take over from Matthew Mott, who was fired last season.
Adam Voges, the departing head coach of Western Australia, will lead the Seattle Orcas in Major League Cricket the next season while he develops his leadership skills on the T20 franchise circuit.
Voges replaces Australian compatriot Matthew Mott, who was fired after Orcas lost their first five games of the 2025 season. It was widely expected that Voges would take a top position at an MLC team after he recently revealed that he would resign as head coach of WA at the conclusion of the current domestic season.
“I am very excited to be joining the Seattle Orcas for the upcoming season,” Voges said. “The MLC competition continues to grow and I look forward to working with the owners, players and staff to help bring success both on and off the field.”
Overseeing an unprecedented run of success for WA after replacing Justin Langer in 2018, Voges has long been projected as a successor to Australia head coach Andrew McDonald whose current contract extends through to 2027. Having held the position since early 2022, McDonald has stated that he is unlikely to ask for an extension.
Voges has worked with the national team and coached Australia A in the past.
Voges has made the decision to use T20 franchise cricket to advance his coaching career in the interim.
