PSL to once again clash with the IPL as dates revealed with the league set to go on from March 26 to May 3.
PSL 2026 to be played from March 26 to May 3 in clash with IPL.
Following an auction on January 8 where the rights to two additional franchises would be up for bid, PCB chairman Mohsin Naqvi stated on Monday that PSL 2026 will take place from March 26 to May 3, 2026. With these additions, the PSL will now consist of eight teams.
In contrast to the 2025 PSL X, which took place from April 11 to May 25 (with a pause for the cross-border conflict between India and Pakistan), the 2026 season’s timeframe has been moved up a little. However, the PSL will continue to coincide with the IPL, which is scheduled to run from March 26 to May 31, for the second consecutive year. Twenty days after the IPL began on March 22, 2025, the PSL began.
With 39 playing days, the 11th PSL season will be the longest to date. Previous versions often lasted between 30 and 35 days, so that adds an extra week to the calendar. There will be more games than ever before, but the schedule won’t be released until the two additional teams are confirmed.
In an effort to connect with possible investors and business partners ahead of a significant season, the PCB has conducted a few roadshows this month at Lord’s and last weekend in New York. Recently, the league benefited from the five founding franchise owners’ decision to extend their ownership for an additional ten years.
However, it’s still unclear what the Multan Sultans’ standing is. In 2018, the team became the sixth, although it quickly experienced a change in ownership.
Throughout the year, the PSL and its current owner, Ali Tareen, have been at odds over the league’s lack of vision and openness. Since Tareen said last month that he would not be renewing his ownership, one of the league’s most reliable teams will theoretically require a new owner.
The PSL will be played mostly during its new April–May window for the second consecutive season. The PSL will begin 17 days after the conclusion of the T20 World Cup this year.
