Suzie Bates suffers quad injury, ruled out of action for 3 months, will miss series against Zimbabwe in February-March 2026.
Suzie Bates ruled out for three months with quadricep injury.
Due to a quadricep injury, New Zealand all-rounder Suzie Bates will not play in the forthcoming home series against Zimbabwe in February and March of 2026. Bates, 38, will also be sidelined for three months and miss the rest of Otago’s domestic home summer.
Bates was hurt last month while playing for Otago in the domestic one-day competition for the New Zealand women’s Hallyburton Johnstone Shield. She will need three months of therapy because of the severity of the rupture, according to subsequent tests. After Eden Carson’s extended absence due to an elbow injury, this is New Zealand’s second injury setback in recent weeks.
Bates is hoping to return to action in the white-ball series against South Africa in March.
“I’m gutted to be missing out this summer, I was really looking forward to another season with the [Otago] Sparks, especially the Super Smash,” Bates said in an NZC statement. “I’m determined to get back on the field with the White Ferns in March, so that’ll be my focus for now.”
Bates had a challenging ODI World Cup in India prior to the Hallyburton Johnstone Shield, scoring just 40 runs in five innings at an average of eight and a strike rate of 61.53.
