Dhruv Shorey equals record for most consecutive List A hundreds, with his fifth century in a row equalling Jagadeesan’s record.
With an undefeated 109 off 77 balls against Hyderabad in Rajkot during the Vijay Hazare Trophy, Vidarbha’s Dhruv Shorey tied N Jagadeesan’s record for the most consecutive hundreds (five) in List A cricket.
Shorey, who came in at number three, built on Aman Mokhade and Yash Rathod’s 148-run opening partnership. After being put to bat, Vidarbha scored 365 for 5 while Shorey hit nine fours and six sixes in his innings. Shorey achieved his eighth List A century with this.
Shorey’s five-century streak began in the quarterfinal, semifinal, and final in the 2024–25 Vijay Hazare Trophy knockout stages.
Shorey was the second-highest run scorer for his team and fifth overall, and he played a crucial role in Vidarbha’s run to the final alongside Karun Nair. In eight innings, he amassed 494 runs with a strike rate of 92.68 and an average of 70.47.
Shorey scored 136 off 125 balls to start the current season, but it was unable to win as Bengal chased down 383 and won by three wickets.
During the 2022–2023 Vijay Hazare Trophy, Jagadeesan scored five hundreds. It featured the greatest individual score in List A cricket, a record-breaking 277 against Arunachal Pradesh.
The next on the list are Nair, Devdutt Padikkal, Kumar Sangakkara and Alviro Petersen, with four consecutive hundreds each. Sangakkara is the only one to score all four in international cricket.
