Saka signs new 5-year contract extension with Arsenal which comes along with a significant wage increase too.
Bukayo Saka agrees new five-year Arsenal contract with big wage increase.
Bukayo Saka will become one of the highest-paid players in Arsenal’s history after agreeing to a new five-year contract.
The England forward’s contract, which he signed in May 2023, is estimated to be worth around £200,000 per week and is set to end in 2027. Prior to the April Champions League quarterfinal victory against Real Madrid, Saka stated that he was in “no rush” to sign a new contract but that he wanted to “win wearing this badge.”
After securing long-term contracts for Gabriel Magalhães, William Saliba, Ethan Nwaneri, and Myles Lewis-Skelly last year, Andrea Berta, the sporting director of Arsenal, made securing the future of the Hale End academy graduate a top priority. Saka’s representatives have reached an agreement that will last until 2031, when Saka will be getting close to turning thirty. Arsenal is likely to formalise this agreement shortly.
According to reports, the agreement will probably increase his salary beyond £15 million per season, or almost £300,000 per week, and put him in the elite group of European players that Arsenal believes best captures the significance of the 24-year-old. Kai Havertz, who arrived from Chelsea in 2023 and signed a contract for £280,000 per week, is currently regarded as their highest-paid player. After signing a contract extension in 2018, Mesut Özil reportedly made £350,000 per week at Arsenal.
With the addition of Noni Madueke from Chelsea as a backup on the right, Saka has been superb in recent weeks as Arsenal has taken a six-point lead at the top of the Premier League. Since suffering a slight hamstring injury in August, Saka’s playing time has been closely monitored. Since the beginning of December, Saka has started on the bench against Club Brugge, Brentford, and Bournemouth.
In appreciation of Declan Rice’s growing importance, Arsenal is reportedly eager to offer him a better contract. The England midfielder arrived from West Ham in 2023 for £105 million and signed a five-year contract with a 12-month extension option.
Marc Guéhi’s contract at Crystal Palace is set to expire in the summer, which is thought to increase the likelihood of an Arsenal transfer. The FA Cup winners want roughly £40 million to sign the defender, although Manchester City has indicated interest in doing so this month. In an attempt to get Guéhi on a free transfer, Arsenal has joined Liverpool, Bayern Munich, and Real Madrid as suitors.
