
Dilpreet Bajwa named Canada skipper for T20 World Cup in what will be Canada’s second appearance at a T20 World Cup.
In the 2026 T20 World Cup, which India and Sri Lanka will co-host, Dilpreet Bajwa will captain Canada’s 15-man squad. Bajwa, who will turn 23 later this month, will be making his leadership debut after participating in 17 T20Is and nine ODIs.
In Twenty20 Internationals, Bajwa has four half-centuries and a strike rate of 133.22. He got knocks of 57 off 18 and 68 not out off 22 in Canada’s Super 60 T10 competition in October. Another great hitter is opening batsman Yuvraj Samra, who has hit 27 sixes at a strike rate of 160.72 in 15 Twenty20 International innings.
Other well-known members of the team include Nicholas Kirton, Navneet Dhaliwal, Dilon Heyliger, Kaleem Sana, and former captain Saad Bin Zafar.
Canada is grouped with Afghanistan, New Zealand, South Africa, and the United Arab Emirates in Group D. On February 9 in Ahmedabad, they will begin their campaign against South Africa. They play all of their group games in India.
After competing in the 2024 T20 World Cup and defeating Ireland, this will be Canada’s second T20 World Cup. They won the Americas Regional Final, which allowed them to qualify for this edition. They won all six of their games and were undefeated throughout the competition.
