Shivam Sharma becomes third injury sub in Ranji Trophy after he replaced injured all-rounder Prashant Veer.
As a Serious Injury Replacement for the injured Prashant Veer, Uttar Pradesh’s left-arm spin all-rounder Shivam Sharma has been added to the starting lineup. After the match referee got Veer’s medical report on the morning of the second day, he was added to the playing XI.
On the opening day of the Ranji Trophy match against Jharkhand, Veer hurt his shoulder while fielding before lunch. He is anticipated to miss at least three weeks of activity. The Ranji Trophy has used the Serious Injury Replacement rule for the third time since it was implemented for the domestic Indian season last year.
The first two examples date back to October of 2025. In the first instance, Jay Gohil of Saurashtra replaced the injured Tarang Gohel against Karnataka, while in the second, Kazi Junaid Saifi of Bengal replaced the injured opener Sudip Chatterjee against Gujarat.
This regulation differs from the concussion substitution rule in that it covers head injuries as well as any injuries judged to be sufficiently significant.
Kumar Kushagra scored his fifth first-class century on the second day, giving visitors Jharkhand a stronger hold on the game. Jharkhand scored an incredible 561 out of 6. Shivam, who replaced Veer in the playing XI, bowled 18.5 overs and claimed two wickets, including Kushagra’s, while Jharkhand opener Sharandeep Singh also got a century on the first day.
