[Saba Sports News] The Premier League is set to resume this weekend,
with the highly anticipated match between Manchester City and Liverpool kicking
off the action. However, prior to the game, a surprising incident unfolded in
the skies above Manchester City’s home stadium, the Etihad Stadium. Photos
captured the scene of a plane continuously circling the stadium, carrying a
prominent banner that read: “Premier League = Corruption.” This
unexpected display left the attending fans in shock. According to reports in
English media, this action was orchestrated by Everton fans. The protest aimed
to voice their discontent with the Premier League, specifically in response to Everton’s
recent deduction of 10 points for alleged violations of sustainability rules.
Rather than staging the protest during an Everton match, the fans strategically
chose the Manchester City vs Liverpool match due to its greater prominence and
potential for a larger audience. Currently, Everton have recorded four wins,
two draws, and six losses in 12 games, accumulating only four points. This
places them second to last in the Premier League standings, level on points
with Burnley at the bottom. Without the deduction, Everton would be positioned
14th in the league table.
