Aaron Hardie becomes latest injury absence for Australia A ahead of their tour to face India A due to shoulder injury.
Aaron Hardie, an all-rounder, will not be playing for Australia A. An additional pace-bowling possibility to be sidelined is a tour of India A because of a shoulder issue.
Will Sutherland, an all-rounder from Victoria who was already included in the tour’s one-day squad, will take Hardie’s position. Sutherland will travel to India in time for the second four-day match in Lucknow. Later on, a replacement for Hardie in the one-day squad will be announced.
With Western Australia’s initial match against New South Wales at the WACA on October 4, it is believed that Hardie would be able to recover in time for the early rounds of Sheffield Shield contests.
Hardie’s recent appearances
Hardie played in the recent T20I and ODI series against South Africa and the West Indies, although he struggled against the latter and was left out of the A team for the brief trip to New Zealand for three T20Is. He might be considered for the white-ball series against India, depending on how well he recovers.
Despite being an all-rounder rather than a bowling specialist, Hardie’s injury brings his list of players out for the season to an increasing number. The biggest doubt is whether Pat Cummins will be able to recover from his back injury in time for the Ashes.
The injury list
Hardie’s WA teammate Lance Morris has had back surgery and has been sidelined for a year, but he has promised speedy recovery. A stress fracture has been identified in Callum Vidler. Vidler was scheduled to play the one-dayers, and Morris was scheduled to play the four-day portion of the A circuit. Henry Thornton of South Australia was called up after Brody Couch, who had been Morris’ replacement at first, had a side injury during the Top End T20 final.
September 16 marks the commencement of the first four-day match versus India A, while September 23 marks the start of the second. The dates of the three one-dayers are September 30, October 3, and October 5, and they will all take place in Kanpur.
