
Abhimanyu Easwaran picked for India’s tour of Australia as India name their side for the 5-test series down under.
Abhimanyu Easwaran, Harshit Rana and allrounder Nitish Kumar Reddy are the three uncapped players in the side for Australia.
Both wristspinner Kuldeep Yadav and fast bowler Mohammed Shami were left off the roster due to a “chronic left groin issue” reported by the BCCI. Shami hasn’t fully recovered from his ankle surgery earlier this year. The travelling reserves include Khaleel Ahmed, Navdeep Saini, and Mukesh Kumar.
Jasprit Bumrah is his vice-captain, and Rohit Sharma is the team’s captain. However, Abhimanyu, 29, is to make his Test debut on the tour. Rohit is to miss one of the first two Tests to personal reasons. He has been in outstanding form this domestic season and was in India’s Test team in Bangladesh in 2022.
R Ashwin, Ravindra Jadeja, and Washington Sundar are the three spin all-rounders that India has selected. Sundar made his Test debut after almost three years by taking ten wickets against New Zealand in Pune. The lone seam-bowling all-rounder in the Australian team is 21-year-old Reddy. Being a member of the India A squad, which will play two four-day matches in Mackay and Melbourne. He will have more time to acclimatise to the environment.
In addition to Bumrah, the other fast bowlers are Mohammed Siraj, Akash Deep, Prasidh, and Rana. 22-year-old Rana has only played nine first-class games. Prasidh, who has played two Test matches in the past, has just resumed playing after overcoming a severe back ailment. Rana, who plays for Delhi, has 36 wickets at an average of 24.75 in first-class cricket. He has claimed two four-wicket hauls for India D in the September Duleep Trophy.
India will play their first Test match against Australia at Perth Stadium from November 22 to 26. This is after starting their tour with a warm-up match against India A in Perth from November 15 to 17. After that, on November 30 and 1, they tour Canberra to play the Prime Minister’s XI. From December 6 to 10, they fly to Adelaide for the second Test, which is a day-night match. The annual Boxing Day Test in Melbourne begins on December 26. The New Year’s Test in Sydney begins on January 3. The third Test in Brisbane takes place from December 14 to 18.
