Aleksandar Mitrovic suffering from arrythmia as he skips training after being taken to the hospital for evaluation.
Aleksandar Mitrovic missed training with Al-Hilal because of an abnormal heart rhythm.
According to local media, the 30-year-old was admitted to the hospital on March 7 after scoring in a 2-0 victory for the Saudi Pro League champions at Al-Fayha.
After being sidelined since January due to a hamstring injury, Mitrovic had recently made a comeback.
“The medical staff has decided to rest Aleksandar Mitrovic from Sunday’s training, due to feeling fatigue and arrhythmias,” Al-Hilal said in a statement.
“He will be observed by specialists, as his case will be monitored constantly.”
Al-Hilal claimed to have paid a “club record transfer fee” to get the Serbian striker from Fulham in August 2023.
Mitrovic joined Fulham from Newcastle in 2018 and played in 205 games, scoring 111 goals.
With 43 goals in 44 games during their 2021–22 season of promotion, he shattered the Championship scoring record. He made 129 Premier League appearances for Fulham and Newcastle, scoring 38 goals overall.
On Tuesday, Al-Hilal will play the second leg of their AFC Champions League Elite last-16 match against Pakhtakorin of Uzbekistan.
Mitrovic has 13 goals in 14 Saudi Pro League games this season; the Saudi team did not specify whether he will play.
