Ali Khan of the USA makes claim of visa being denied by India ahead of USA’a participation in the T20 World Cup.
The Pakistani-born fast bowler for the United States, Ali Khan, stated in an Instagram story caption that he has been “denied” an Indian visa. On February 7, the first day of the 2026 T20 World Cup, the USA will play India in Mumbai.
Khan posted on Tuesday without providing any other information while attending a USA training camp in Colombo.
Although the USA has not yet revealed their team for the 2026 T20 World Cup, it is anticipated that the final 15 would be selected from the 18 players at the Sri Lankan camp. It is thought that the USA coaching staff will choose the team, and the ICC, which assumed control after USA Cricket was suspended late last year, will handle team management and logistics.
At the Colombo camp, Khan, 35, is one of three American players of Pakistani descent; the other two are Ehsan Adil and Mohammad Mohsin. Although the ICC has not officially commented on the problem, it is believed that it is working to help and is optimistic that it will be resolved.
Oman, the United Arab Emirates, and Italy, three of the tournament’s associate teams, will be watching closely because their rosters are probably going to contain a number of players who are either Pakistani nationals or of Pakistani descent.
Adil Rashid and Rehan Ahmed, two members of England’s squad of Pakistani ancestry, are still awaiting their visas. The requirement to apply in person complicates their predicament, even if it is anticipated that the issue would be settled in time for the competition. Rashid is currently in Dubai, and Rehan is in Australia at the BBL.
The ICC notified all participating countries in September of last year that obtaining visas to Sri Lanka and India, the co-hosts of the T20 World Cup, would fall under the purview of their individual boards, though it would assist with any necessary paperwork. The ICC would be in charge in the USA’s case due to the suspension of USAC.
Even for players who are foreign nationals, obtaining a visa has become more difficult in recent years due to deteriorating diplomatic and political relations between India and Pakistan.
