Amy Jones to replace the injured Litchfield for the UP Warriorz with the latter flying back home after a quad injury.
Amy Jones, an England batsman and wicketkeeper, has been selected by UP Warriorz (UPW) to replace Phoebe Litchfield, who is injured, for the duration of WPL 2026.
Before the Australia vs. India series, which begins on February 15, Litchfield has returned home to recover from a quad injury, according to a Cricket Australia representative. With 243 runs, Litchfield, who participated in all six UPW games this season, is the team’s top scorer and the third-highest run scorer overall.
Jones was selected by UPW at her auction base price of INR 50 lakh after going unsold at the auction. With the exception of 111 ODIs, she has played in 125 T20Is for England. She has also participated in the WBBL and the Hundred.
With 234 runs in 11 games at a strike rate of 125.80, she was the Melbourne Stars’ second-highest run scorer at WBBL 2025–2026. Stars advanced to the Knockout stage before losing to the Perth Scorchers. Jones’ final competitive appearance was that game in early December 2025.
The last time UPW played was on January 22, when they were defeated by Gujarat Giants by 45 runs.
As a result, they had the lowest net run-rate of the five teams and were at the bottom of the points table. They must therefore increase their NRR in addition to winning their final two games in order to earn a spot in the playoffs. UPW’s next games are against Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) on Thursday and Delhi Capitals (DC) on February 1.
