Ankit Sharma obtains Puducherry NoC for domestic season amid reports of him playing for Kerala this season on.
Madhya Pradesh-born left-arm spinner Ankit Sharma has received a NOC from the Puducherry Cricket Association (CAP). For the past few years, he has played domestic cricket for the Puducherry team.
With 68 first-class games under his belt, the 34-year-old all-rounder was also working for Siechem Technologies. He resigned from that position, according to CAP sources, and it is rumoured that he would play for Kerala in the forthcoming domestic season.
A Kerala Cricket Association (KCA) official, however, said a final decision has not yet been taken. “We have interviewed Ankit. He had come down to Kerala for an interview, but we are yet to take a final decision,” a KCA official said.
Over the past few seasons, Ankit has played in 17 first-class matches for Puducherry, taking 49 wickets with his slow left-arm spin. He has collected 11 wickets in 13 T20 matches and 12 wickets in 13 List A games for the southern team.
Sidak Singh, a left-handed all-rounder like Ankit, will replace him on the Puducherry squad, according to CAP authorities. Their season-long professional players are Diddhant Adhatrao, Puneet Datey, and Jayant Yadav.
