The IPL mega auctions are approaching, and the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) is gearing up for its Annual General Meeting (AGM) on Sunday, September 29, in Bengaluru.
Key decisions, including the re-election of Arun Singh Dhumal and Abhishek Dalmiya to the IPL Governing Council (GC), are expected at the meeting.
Dhumal and Dalmiya, having filed unopposed nominations, are set to be re-elected, with Dhumal likely to continue as IPL Chairman for another year.
The IPL GC under his leadership will tackle crucial issues like player retention and salary caps in the coming months.
The AGM will also confirm V Chamundeswaranath as the Indian Cricketers’ Association (ICA) representative. Additionally, it will address the appointment of a new BCCI representative to the International Cricket Council (ICC), as Jay Shah is set to become the ICC’s Independent Chairman. Two candidates may be selected for a smooth transition when Shah steps into his new role.
Notably, the election for a new BCCI secretary to replace Shah is not on the current agenda and will be discussed at a Special General Meeting (SGM), likely in January, after Shah steps down in November.
