Ashwin in talks with ILT20, may register for auction.
R Ashwin, who just retired from all competitions, including the Indian Premier League (IPL), has shown interest in playing in the International League T20 (ILT20) and is probably going to sign up for the auction. He will play in the upcoming UAE League season, which takes place from December 2 to January 4 of the following year, if everything goes according to plan.
The ace spinner is in talks with the ILT20 organisers, and after the enrolment procedures are over, his name might be on the auction list. The deadline to register for the auction is September 10; the registration process is now open.
“Yes, I am in talks with the organisers. Hopefully, I will have a buyer if I register for the auction” Ashwin told
This year, the league’s organisers switched from a draft method to an auction system for player recruitment. The auction is set to happen in Dubai on September 30.
Ashwin would be the most well-known figure from Indian cricket to appear in the UAE league, which is currently in its fourth season, if he were selected at auction. Ambati Rayudu is the only other Indian to have participated in the competition, having played eight games for MI Emirates. Yusuf Pathan and Robin Uthappa have both been selected in the past but have not yet made their debuts.
Before deciding to play in the league, Ashwin most likely received promises from teams. Ashwin has been a consistent player in the IPL since season 2009 and has played in 282 international matches in a variety of forms. He is one of the top match-winners.
In 221 games, the 38-year-old all-rounder played for five different teams: the Delhi Capitals, Punjab Kings, Rajasthan Royals, Chennai Super Kings, and Rising Pune Supergiants. In addition, he played T20 cricket for both his TNPL teams and the Tamil Nadu state team. He played in 65 Twenty20 Internationals as well.
It is quite probable that Ashwin will play in Major League Cricket (MLC) in the United States and The Hundred in England next year. This website has previously revealed that Ashwin is interested in a player-cum-coach role in overseas leagues.
