Australia canter to 4-0 courtesy Maxwell, Inglis, and Green despite Jediah Blades briefly threatening to be the hero.
Maxwell, Inglis and Green carry Australia to 4-0.
Cameron Green’s composed, unbeaten half-century, along with some impressive hitting and catching from Glenn Maxwell, led Australia to their fourth consecutive victory over a demoralized West Indies in Basseterre.
Green scored an unbeaten 55 off 35 balls, guiding Australia to reach a target of 206 with three wickets remaining and four balls to spare, despite a middle-order collapse. The chase was initially set up by Josh Inglis, who contributed 51 runs off 30 balls, while Maxwell, named Player of the Match, hit 47 runs off just 18 balls at the top of the order. Jediah Blades, in only his second match, seemed poised to be the standout with an exceptional performance of 3 for 29, but the West Indies’ fielding let them down once again.
Australia, on the other hand, displayed impeccable fielding, with Maxwell making two catches and teaming up with Green to execute a breathtaking catch near the boundary, complementing a superb bowling display. With Ben Dwarshuis and Tim David given a break, Aaron Hardie and Xavier Bartlett seized their opportunity, finishing with figures of 2 for 24 and 2 for 39, respectively, including three scalps during the powerplay that limited the West Indies’ scoring. Nathan Ellis was outstanding once more, delivering four overs for just 21 runs, while Adam Zampa and Sean Abbott collectively claimed five wickets between them.
West Indies became the first team in T20I history to score 200 without anyone scoring more than 34, with Sherfane Rutherford top-scoring with 31.
