The Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) has unveiled a spin-heavy squad for the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup 2024, starting October 3. Originally set to be hosted in Bangladesh, the tournament has been relocated to the United Arab Emirates due to political reasons.
Captain Nigar Sultana Joty leads a 15-member squad featuring a diverse spin attack, including left and right-arm options and off-break and leg-break specialists like Nahida Akter, Shorna Akter, Rabeya, Sultana Khatun, and Fahima Khatun. The pace attack is led by veterans Jahanara Alam, Mst. Ritu Moni, and young talent Marufa Akter.
Bangladesh, placed in Group B, will face Scotland in their opener on October 3 in Sharjah, followed by a tough match against England. Despite missing home advantage, the spin-friendly conditions in the UAE could benefit Bangladesh’s bowling strategy.
