Bangladesh make one change in their squad vs India for the upcoming two-test series starting from September 19.
Bangladesh have named their side that will face India in a crucial 2-test series that starts in Chennai next week.
14 of the 15 members are the same that played and won in Pakistan. The only change is an injury-enforced one, with Jaker Ali in for Shoriful Islam.
Pacer Shoriful had suffered a groin injury in the first Test vs Pakistan and has been ruled out since. This will be Jaker Ali’s debut series if he is given a place in the 11.
Jaker has represented Bangladesh in 17 T20Is since making his debut at the Asian Games in 2023. He has played 49 first-class games and averages 41.47 with four centuries.
Despite being regular in T20i’s, he is yet to play a Test or an ODI for that matter.
While Mahmudul Hasan keeps his place despite injury, Shadman Islam’s impressive showing gives him the edge in the 11.
September 19 marks the start of the first Test match against India in Chennai, while September 27 marks the start of the second match in Kanpur. Both matches are a part of the current World Test Championship cycle. Bangladesh is ranked fourth and India is ranked first.
Bangladesh will be hoping to continue their good run away from home after beating Pakistan in Pakistan recently. With a settled batting line-up and a confident bowling unit, they will hope to put a fight against India.
India, on the contrary, will be hoping to keep their proud record of not losing a home test series intact. The last time they lost a home test series was way back in 2013.
India have begun their preparatory camp in Chennai ahead of the first test.
