BCB ends long association with chief curator Gamini de Silva.
With effect from November, the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) has chosen to terminate its 15-year partnership with chief curator Gamini de Silva.
In July 2025, Gamini, who has been the head curator of the BCB since 2010, received a one-year extension. Officials did, however, clarify that the board will let him go after the agreed-upon compensation has been paid.
“According to his(Gamini) agreement if we don’t want to continue with him before the end of his tenure, we have to pay him salary of two months. We decided to pay him that amount to end our relationship with him,” a BCB official confirmed.
Gamini managed the Sher-e-Bangla National Stadium for the majority of his term until being transferred to Rajshahi. According to reports, his relationship with the board deteriorated after Australian curator Tony Hemmings returned.
Gamini, who had been known to make decisions on topics pertaining to the pitch since his hiring, reportedly did not welcome Hemmings when he departed the BCB.
In both domestic and international games, Gamini has been criticised for the continually slow and low surfaces. The fact that he is still the only curator in BCB’s history to have worked at a single location for such a long time has raised questions among the board.
