A day after the BCCI’s annual general meeting, the newly-built National Cricket Academy (NCA) in Bengaluru will be inaugurated on Saturday, September 28. BCCI Secretary Jay Shah confirmed the date in an email to state associations.
In the email, Shah extended an invitation for the grand event, writing, “It is our pleasure to extend an invitation to you for the much-anticipated inauguration of the new National Cricket Academy in Bengaluru, India, on September 28.”
He also detailed the new facility’s impressive features, which include “three world-class playing grounds, 45 practice pitches, indoor cricket pitches, an Olympic-size swimming pool, and state-of-the-art training, recovery, and sports science facilities.”
Shah emphasized that the NCA will provide the best environment for cricketers to develop their skills.
He further added, “Your support in this groundbreaking project has been most valuable, and we sincerely hope that you can spare some time from your busy schedule and grace us with your presence.”
The NCA is currently headed by VVS Laxman, whose tenure is nearing its end. Due to personal reasons, Laxman is not interested in continuing, and the BCCI is now searching for a new chief to take over his role.
Both current and potential national players have access to the NCA, but the fate of the old facility near M. Chinnaswamy Stadium is yet to be determined.
