Belgian star unhappy at Man City as he admits to uncertain future by putting any talks about a contract on hold.
Belgian star Kevin De Bruyne has dropped surprising news about his Manchester City future that could leave fans of the club worried.
De Bruyne has been one of the cornerstones of this Manchester City juggernaut, with his quality, leadership, and command. His performances on the pitch spoke for themselves as City won title after title on the back of his game-changing performances.
However, the past couple of years has seen father time catch up to the Belgian. Injuries have hampered his playing time and there have been many instances of his performances not being up to his high standards.
After delaying negotiations for a contract extension, he is uncertain if this will be his final season at Manchester City.
The 33-year-old Belgium midfielder’s contract expires at the end of the current campaign, but talks were put on hold while he heals from a thigh injury he suffered in September.
Despite playing just nine games this season, he has entered as a substitute in each of City’s last three games as he recovers to full fitness.
“Obviously when I started the season I knew talks would happen but then I had that thing [thigh injury] against Brentford and put that to a side,” said De Bruyne.
“I was hoping to be out for days but it ended up being eight or nine weeks and I would rather get back first and all the rest will come.
“I’m not too obsessed with things but there is not much I can say. I am fine, I am happy, I just want to play football again and we will see.
“Talks will come, if no talks come it will be my last year. I just want to play good football.”
De Bruyne went on to say that he had discussed his future with the club last summer but “was not in the right frame of mind” to carry on the conversation following his injury.
Following rumours of a move to Saudi Arabia, the former Chelsea midfielder declared last summer that he was “open to everything”.
According to De Bruyne, he would be “able to earn an incredible amount of money” if he stayed in Saudi Arabia for two years.
