[Saba Sports News] According to Brazilian media reports, Coimbra, a
football team from the state of Minas Gerais in Brazil, have recently filed a
formal lawsuit against Porto. The lawsuit alleges that Porto failed to pay
Coimbra their share of the transfer fee for player Otavio when he was sold to
Riyadh Victory. It is reported that Porto sold Otavio for a transfer fee of 60
million euros (approximately 321 million reais). Coimbra claim that they are
entitled to a 32% share of the transfer fee, which amounts to a negotiation fee
of 12.75 million euros (approximately 68 million reais). After not receiving
the payment, Coimbra reached out to FIFA through their legal department, and
have issued a statement, giving Porto until December 5 to respond to the
incident. Interestingly, Coimbra also have a partnership with Porto’s rivals,
Benfica, starting from 2022, to develop young players in Brazil.
