Brentford see £35m bid for Hutchinson rejected by Ipswich as the offer by the Bees was not cash up front as expected.
Brentford made a £35 million offer for winger Omari Hutchinson, but Ipswich rejected it.
Hutchinson’s relegation release clause was reached by the Bees, but the offer was turned down since it did not include cash up front.
Even though the condition is no longer in effect, Brentford, under new manager Keith Andrews, is still interested in signing the 21-year-old.
However, the Bees are considering alternative options because they are unwilling to pay what Ipswich wants for the player.
Bryan Mbeumo, a Manchester United target, may be replaced by Hutchinson, but the 25-year-old Cameroon winger hasn’t left the team yet.
United made two offers for Mbeumo, the second of which was valued at up to £62.5 million, but Brentford turned them down.
Hutchinson helped Ipswich enter the Premier League by joining from Chelsea for £20 million last summer after spending 2023–24 on loan at Portman Road.
Despite having three goals in 31 league games the previous season, he was powerless to prevent Kieran McKenna’s team from relegating to the Championship.
Hutchinson also won Euro 2025 with England Under-21s last month, scoring in their extra-time final victory over Germany in Bratislava.
After scoring 12 goals the previous season, Ipswich already transferred striker Liam Delap to Chelsea for £30 million.
Following Jordan Henderson’s departure from Ajax, Brentford acquired keeper Caoimhin Kelleher from Liverpool, Feyenoord’s Antoni Milambo, and made Michael Kayode’s loan from Fiorentina permanent.
