India has produced many workhorses over the years, but few match the resilience and dedication of Jasprit Bumrah, the leader of India’s bowling attack.
In a viral video, Bumrah answered a typical question at an event in a surprising yet humorous way. When asked who he thought was the fittest cricketer in the Indian team, Bumrah confidently named himself, citing the challenges of being a fast bowler in India’s hot and humid conditions.
“Who’s the fittest in the Indian team?” the co-host asked. Bumrah replied, “I’ll say my name because I’m a fast bowler. Playing in this country’s heat requires a lot, so I always promote fast bowlers.”
Bumrah has not played since India’s T20 World Cup win in June 2024. The BCCI rested him to manage his workload, with him missing tours of Zimbabwe, Sri Lanka, and the Duleep Trophy.
Bumrah is expected to return for the first Test against Bangladesh, starting September 19, 2024, in Chennai.
