Callum Wilson set to depart Newcastle United following the end of his contract, as he says ‘All good things come to an end’.
After announcing his departure from Newcastle, striker Callum Wilson said, “all good things come to an end.”
After failing to reach an agreement on a new contract, the former England international leaves St. James’ Park after his current one expired last week.
Wilson, 33, has been credited by Newcastle for playing a “huge part in our success in recent years” after scoring 49 goals in 130 games.
Wilson has options in Major League Soccer and has reportedly attracted interest from many Premier League clubs.
“To all you Magpies, it’s time to say goodbye after an unbelievable few years at the Toon,” Wilson said in a statement.
“Thank you for everything. We stood strong together through the highs and some lows to help the club experience new heights.”
“I am so proud to have worn the iconic number 9 shirt and to have added a little more history to it,” Wilson added.
“Scoring at the Gallowgate end really is as special as they say.
“All good things come to an end, but there’s no doubt Newcastle United will always have a place in mine and my families hearts.”
Wilson spent five injury-plagued years on Tyneside after joining Newcastle from Bournemouth in 2020 for around £20 million.
Last season, he only made eighteen Premier League games due to back and hamstring issues.
