Canada become 13th team to qualify for men’s T20 World Cup 2026.
Canada defeated Bahamas by seven wickets in the Americas regional qualifying finals, making them the 13th side to earn a spot in the 20-team 2026 men’s T20 World Cup, which will be played in India and Sri Lanka.
In the four-team competition, which also includes Bermuda and the Cayman Islands, it was Canada’s fifth straight victory and guaranteed them a top-of-the-table finish regardless of the outcome of the next two games.
Canada will be attending a T20 World Cup for the second time. They had used the same technique to qualify for the 2024 edition in both the USA and the West Indies.
The hosts, India and Sri Lanka, as well as Afghanistan, Australia, Bangladesh, England, Ireland, New Zealand, Pakistan, South Africa, the United States, and the West Indies, are already qualified. They will be joined by seven additional teams: three from the Asia-EAP qualification, two from the Africa qualifier, and two from the Europe qualifier.
Canada was the frontrunner to win the event because they were playing at home and the USA couldn’t compete because they had already qualified. With victories of 110 runs, 59 runs, ten wickets, 42 runs, and seven wickets, they lived up to the hype. They bundled Bahamas for just 57 in 19.5 overs in their most recent victory. Kaleem Sana picked up 3 for 6 from his four overs, Ansh Patel 2 for 7 from his quota, and Shivam Sharma 3 for 16 in 2.5.
With an undefeated 36 from 14 balls, Dilpreet Bajwa led the Canada hitters in chasing down the goal in just 5.3 overs.
On Sunday, Canada will play their final match versus Bermuda.
