Capitals suffer a double injury blow ahead of crucial phase with Deeya Yadav and Mamatha Madiwala ruled out of WPL.
Due to injury, Mamatha Madiwala and Deeya Yadav of the Delhi Capitals (DC) will not play in the WPL 2026. They were replaced by seamer E Srujana and all-rounder Pragati Singh.
Pragati, a 22-year-old batter who bowls seam, represents Punjab on the domestic circuit. She scored 143 runs at a strike rate of 105.14, making her Punjab’s second-highest run scorer in the Senior Women’s T20 Trophy. In the one-day domestic league last year, she also claimed eight wickets.
Srujana, 20, plays for Hyderabad and was a net bowler for DC in the past. She played age-group cricket for Hyderabad and made her senior team debut in 2023–2024. At their base fee of INR 10 lakh, both players signed up.
Wicketkeeper Madiwala had not yet made her WPL debut, but Deeya, who was 16 years and 103 days old, became the youngest player to do so when she was included in DC’s starting lineup against the Mumbai Indians in Vadodara. She had taken Minnu Mani’s spot in the side but did not bat or bowl.
Before the competition began, Australia’s all-rounder Annabel Sutherland had also left DC. For private reasons, she had chosen not to participate.
With two victories and three losses, DC is presently ranked fourth in the standings. On Saturday night, they take on RCB.
