[Saba Sports News] The Cleveland Cavaliers showed their respect for LeBron James, fondly known as The Kid From Akron, in a special way. As they prepared for their home game against LeBron James and the Los Angeles Lakers on Saturday, the Cavaliers displayed a heartfelt message outside the visiting team’s locker room at Rocket Mortgage FieldHouse. ESPN’s Dave McMenamin revealed the message on the videoboard which read, “Welcome Back LeBron!” along with an image of James with his trophies from the Cavaliers’ 2016 NBA championship victory.
James’ departure to the Miami Heat in 2010, after spending his first seven NBA seasons with the Cavaliers, initially caused some tension. However, his return to Cleveland in 2014, culminating in leading the team to their first and only championship in 2016, healed old wounds.
Leaving the Cavaliers again in 2018 to join the Lakers, James left a lasting legacy as the most celebrated player in Cleveland sports history. This ensures he will always receive a warm reception in Cleveland, and there’s even speculation that he might return to the Cavaliers before the end of his career.
