The Chhattisgarh State Cricket Sangh has named its men’s senior squad for the 2025 edition of the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy, India’s premier domestic T20 competition. The announcement came after a recent meeting of the selection committee in Raipur.
Veteran middle-order batter Amandeep Khare will lead the side, bringing experience and technical solidity. Between the stumps, Shashank Chandrakar and Mayank Verma have been chosen as wicketkeepers, providing flexibility and backup in the team.
The Chhattisgarh squad is a blend of seasoned campaigners and promising talents. Alongside Amandeep Khare, the batting lineup includes Ayush Pandey, Sanidhya Hurkat, Shubham Agrawal, Shashank Singh, and Gagandeep Singh. These players are expected to anchor the innings and contribute crucial runs throughout the tournament.
All-rounders feature strongly in the squad. Ajay Mandal, who bats left-handed and bowls slow left-arm orthodox, adds balance. Prateek Yadav and Mayank Yadav are also in contention, offering both batting depth and bowling options. Anand Rao features in the squad too, bringing energy and variety.
On the bowling front, Ravi Kiran is among the picks, while Amit Kumar Yadav (Koriya) brings his all-round abilities into play. The team also receives support from youth talent Sourabh Majumdar, who has previously impressed in Chhattisgarh’s domestic T20 outings.
There’s a further mix with younger names such as Dev Aditya Singh, Ashish Chouhan, Pratham Jachak, and Sanjeet Desai, though their retention in the squad depends on whether Chhattisgarh’s Under-23 team qualifies for the knockout stages of the U-23 State A Trophy.
For Chhattisgarh, this tournament presents a crucial opportunity. The experienced leaders and tested all-rounders will shoulder the responsibility of guiding the talented youngsters. The selectors’ balanced strategy suggests they are targeting both strong short-term performance and long-term development.
Chhattisgarh’s early matches in the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy will be played in Lucknow. Their schedule includes games against Vidarbha (on 26 November), Assam (28 November), Kerala (30 November), Odisha (2 December), Andhra (4 December), Mumbai (6 December), and Railways (8 December). All matches are set to take place at venues in Lucknow, including the Bharat Ratna Shri Atal Bihari Vajpayee Ekana Stadium.
This squad selection underlines Chhattisgarh’s ambition to compete strongly in the T20 format, leveraging a mix of experience, youth, and all-round ability. As the tournament approaches, all eyes will be on how this team gels and whether it can challenge established sides in the fiercely competitive Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy.
