Sales for the first day of play on December 26 have tripled compared to the 2018-19 season, while sales for days 2-4 have surged by an incredible 5.5 times since India’s last pre-COVID tour.
Interest from Indian tourists has also seen a significant rise, with 3.9% of current ticket buyers hailing from India, a sharp increase from the mere 0.7% during the previous series, where India secured a 2-1 victory.
Cricket Australia’s Executive General Manager for Events & Operations, Joel Morrison, highlighted the growing anticipation, stating, “The Border-Gavaskar series is a highly anticipated event, and current ticket sales demonstrate there is enormous interest in the upcoming contest between Australia and India. Tickets are selling fast for all five Tests as excitement builds for the summer ahead. We’re encouraging fans to buy tickets now to ensure they don’t miss out on the action.”
He further noted the strong demand from both Indian and Australian fans, calling it a “fantastic opportunity to celebrate the enduring connection between our two countries both on and off the field.”
