The two-Test series between Bangladesh and South Africa will begin on time. The first Test match takes place in Dhaka from October 21 to 25. The second was held at Chattogram between November 2 and October 29.
According to a statement released by the CSA on Monday, the tour was approved following “an in-loco inspection” by the board’s operations manager, team security manager, safety and security consultant, and South African Cricketers’ Association representative. These individuals visited Bangladesh last week and submitted their recommendations to the board.
On October 16, South Africa will arrive in Dhaka. Later on Monday, the team for the series is anticipated.
The anti-government riots in Bangladesh in July and August, which resulted in the overthrow of Sheikh Hasina’s administration and the subsequent relocation of the women’s T20 World Cup to the United Arab Emirates, were the source of South Africa’s concerns regarding the security situation in that nation.
There are just six Test matches remaining for South Africa in the current World Test Championship cycle. After playing six games so far, they have won two, lost three, and drawn one. They need to win at five of their games to have a chance of making it to the Lord’s final. They are currently sixth in the points table.
The most recent Test series between South Africa and Bangladesh took place in South Africa in March and April of 2022. To play Ireland, South Africa’s white-ball teams are currently in the United Arab Emirates.
