Curtis Campher joins Multan Sultans for the remainder of the PSL season as he replaces Gudakesh Motie midway.
Curtis Campher replaces Motie for the Sultans, while United have not yet announced a replacement.
Gudakesh Motie, a spinner for the West Indies, and Matthew Short, an Australian wicketkeeper, have been ruled out of the PSL 2025 for both Islamabad United and Multan Sultans.
Short was nursing an injury from which he never fully recovered when he landed in Pakistan at the beginning of the PSL. According to a United statement, he had displayed “encouraging signs of recovery” but had difficulty during training.
Despite efforts to restore him to full fitness in conjunction with Cricket Australia’s medical staff, the team stated that it was “in the best interest of the player’s long-term fitness and career” to make the “joint decision” to send Short back to Australia to continue his rehabilitation.
“Islamabad United remain fully committed to the well-being of all our players and extend our support to Matt during his recovery,” the statement said. “We thank him for his professionalism and positive presence in the camp and wish him a swift and complete recovery.”
Motie returned to Guyana “to attend to a domestic matter,” according to the Sultans. According to reports, his father has been ill, but the Sultans are still holding out hope that he will be ready to play in the tournament again eventually. The Sultans lost their first three games, and Motie did not play in any of them. With the PSL moving to Multan, where Mohammad Rizwan’s team will play their next two games against Lahore Qalandars and Islamabad United, the Sultans will try to turn their season around at home.
