[Saba Sports News] The Dallas Mavericks’ special court designed for the NBA’s In-Season Tournament won’t be used as planned. ESPN’s Tim MacMahon reported that a defect in the court has prevented its use for the scheduled game against the Houston Rockets at the American Airlines Center.
This issue first arose during the Mavericks’ In-Season Tournament game against the LA Clippers on November 10, when a manufacturing problem with the court surface led to the decision to use their regular court instead. Weeks later, the issue remains unresolved.
Player safety is the top priority, but it’s notable that each NBA team only has two home games during the In-Season Tournament group stage. With the Mavericks already out of the tournament contention with a 1-2 record, the debut of their custom court will be postponed until next season.
