[Saba Sports News] The Milwaukee Bucks, at a 10-5 season start, are adapting to the new dynamic duo of Giannis Antetokounmpo and Damian Lillard. Despite the initial adjustment period, Lillard remains confident in their potential. In a conversation with ESPN.
“We’re still learning each other,” Lillard shared. “If it would’ve been flipped and him coming to Portland to play with me, I would’ve already been comfortable because I’ve been here. He would have been trying to adapt and get comfortable and figure out how he fits in and maybe would have been a bit more passive in trying to learn the way. That’s me right now.”
The collaboration between Giannis and Lillard has generated significant interest, with their on-court synergy gradually improving. However, there’s still uncertainty about the Bucks’ overall strength in the Eastern Conference, with formidable opponents like Boston and Philadelphia.
Damian Lillard, transitioning from a stellar season in Portland, faced challenges in integrating into the Bucks. His performance, averaging 24.8 points, 6.2 assists, and 4.3 rebounds with a 40.2% field goal rate, indicates an adjustment phase. His toughest game was against the Hawks, scoring only 6 points. This transition phase, marked by Lillard’s adaptation to playing alongside a talent like Antetokounmpo, is a significant change from his leading role in Portland.
Although it’s too soon to determine his long-term impact with the Bucks, expectations are high for him to regain his top form.
