Deepti and Ecclestone among marquee players in WPL auction pool with a total of 277 players to go under the hammer.
Deepti and Ecclestone among others in marquee set to kick off WPL 2026 mega auction.
Two of the eight Indian players in the marquee set that will start the bidding at the WPL 2026 auction are all-rounder Deepti Sharma and quick bowler Renuka Singh. The other members of the marquee set include Sophie Devine, Sophie Ecclestone, Alyssa Healy, Meg Lanning, Amelia Kerr, and Laura Wolvaardt.
Only Wolvaardt (INR 30 lakh) and Renuka (INR 40 lakh) have posted base prices below the INR 50 lakh ceiling among the players in the marquee set.
For the WPL 2026 auction, 277 participants have signed up for a maximum of 73 spots. In the auction, which will take place in Delhi on November 27, 83 foreign players will compete for the 23 slots that are open to them.
Deepti, Ecclestone, and Healy, three of the marquee sets’ players, have represented UP Warriorz (UPW), who have four right-to-match (RTM) choices. Shweta Sehrawat was the only uncapped player that UPW kept.
The 23 Australian players do not include Tahlia McGrath, who played for UPW, or Sophie Molineux, who represented Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB). Apart from that, the auction pool contains 22 players from England, 13 from New Zealand, and 11 from South Africa. The three Sri Lankans are left-arm spinner Inoka Ranaweera, batter Harshitha Samarawickrama, and Chamari Athapaththu. Last season, Athapaththu was a member of UPW. Marufa Akter, Shorna Akter, and Rabeya Khan are three Bangladeshi players who have listed for INR 30 lakh.
Harleen Deol, an Indian batter who spent her first three seasons with the Gujarat Giants (GG), has set her base price in the top range of INR 50 lakh and in the list of capped all-rounders. Phoebe Litchfield of Australia, her GG teammate, too has a base price of INR 50 lakh. However, GG is unable to use their RTM for Litchfield because they have kept two foreign players, Ashleigh Gardner and Beth Mooney.
The group of capped all-rounders includes Radha Yadav, Sneh Rana, Grace Harris, Chinelle Henry, and N Shree Charani. Every player in the package, with the exception of Deol, has a starting price of INR 30 lakh.
The four players from Associate teams are completed by wicketkeeper Theertha Satish and UAE captain Esha Oza. Scotland wicketkeeper Sarah Bryce was a member of DC last season, but neither Ireland nor Scotland have any players on the roster.
With the largest payouts—INR 14.50 crore and INR 9 crore, respectively—UPW and GG will compete in the WPL 2026 auction, followed by RCB (INR 6.15 crore), MI (INR 5.75 crore), and DC (5.70 crore). There won’t be an RTM option available for MI and DC, who each kept five players.
