Digvesh Rathi of LSG suspended for one game after altercation with Abhishek Sharma in yesterdays LSG vs SRH game.
Digvesh Rathi, the LSG spinner, has breached the IPL’s Code of Conduct for a third time this season, leaving him suspended for one game alongside a 50% fine of his match fee.
Rathi received the violation after dismissing Abhishek Sharma during LSG’s home match against Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH).
After Rathi got rid of Abhishek, the event took place in the eighth over of the chase. He waved and made a note in his “notebook” to bid the batter farewell. He then had a verbal altercation with the batter that required umpire Michael Gough’s assistance. Rathi’s ban has begun as a result of his current season-long total of five demerit points. He will not play in Thursday’s match between LSG and the Gujarat Titans (GT).
All five of Rathi’s demerit points from this season fall under IPL Code of Conduct Article 2.5. The law states that a player must miss one game when they have accrued four demerit points, which equals one suspension point. Rathi will need to exercise caution even in the next seasons because demerit points are recorded on a player’s record for 36 months. Eight demerit points would result in a two-game ban, and eleven would result in a three-game suspension.
Rathi had previously received two demerit points for his celebration against Mumbai Indians (MI)’s Naman Dhir on April 4 and one demerit point for his celebration and charge against Punjab Kings’ (PBKS) Priyansh Arya on April 1. Both incidents involved his “notebook” send-off. The match authorities explained to Rathi why he was punished for his first offence against PBKS. Rathi claimed that he believed he had been punished for charging at the batter the first time when he was brought up against MI three days later.
In addition, Abhishek received a 25% match fee fine for his role in the event. He had committed his first offence of the season. The two players seemed happier after the game, despite the heated incident that occurred during the competition. Following the match, which SRH won by six wickets and ten balls remaining, the two shook hands and were spotted teasing one another as the teams caught up.
