Diogo Jota adds to Liverpool’s injury problems after revelation that he will be out until after the November international break.
Diogo Jota is set to be out until after November’s international break, and that is not good news for Liverpool.
After colliding with defender Tosin Adarabioyo during Liverpool’s 2-1 victory against Chelsea on October 20, the Portugal striker was substituted out.
After being diagnosed with a rib ailment, Jota has missed the last two games and has not yet returned to training.
The 27-year-old will miss the next four games across all competitions due to the international break, which runs from November 11 to 19.
“Conor [Bradley] is training with us again so maybe he could be in the squad [for Wednesday’s trip to Brighton in the EFL Cup],” Slot said.
“Jota not, Alisson not, Harvey Elliott not and Federico [Chiesa] not.”
Asked whether Jota could return before the international break, Slot replied: “No, it will be after that. Elliott the same.”
Liverpool will also play Brighton in the Premier League on Saturday at Anfield.
Prior to the international break, the Reds will host Bayer Leverkusen in the Champions League, while Aston Villa will be on Merseyside.
On November 24, Liverpool will go to Southampton, who were recently promoted, for their first game following it.
While Elliott is out due to a fractured foot, goalie Alisson has been out for the past two weeks due to a hamstring ailment.
Chiesa, a summer signing from Juventus, has made just three appearances for the Reds this season.
