Dion Nash is NZC board’s latest addition as the former national selector replaces the outgoing Martin Snedden.
Dion Nash has been elected to NZC.
Nash takes over for Martin Snedden, who had to resign by rotation after serving for a long time in the game as a player, CEO, board member, chair of the board and director of the ICC.
“It’s good to have someone with Dion’s cricket and business experience coming onto the board at a time when Martin is stepping down,” NZC chair Diana Pukepatu-Lyndon said. “Dion has a strong interest in not just the playing of the game but [also] the business of the game, and that should help stand us in good stead.”
From 1992 to 2002, Nash participated in 32 Test matches and 81 One-Day Internationals. He was a member of the New Zealand team that won the 2000 ICC KnockOut, which was subsequently renamed the Champions Trophy. He took ten wickets and hit a half-century at Lord’s in just his fifth Test match.
Nash took over as captain for three Test matches and seven ODIs in early 1999 after regular captain Stephen Fleming was injured. In 2005, after retiring, he was named a men’s team selector before pursuing a career in business.
