[Saba Sports News] West Indies cricket is currently facing significant challenges, having failed to qualify for the T20 World Cup last year and, for the first time, missing the ODI World Cup in 2023. As two-time world champions, they are eager to rebuild and secure direct qualification for the 2027 World Cup.
The upcoming three-match ODI series against England, starting December 3, with Shai Hope as captain and Alzarri Joseph as vice-captain, marks the beginning of this journey.
Despite his impressive performance in the Super50 tournament, where Darren Bravo scored 416 runs in eight matches, he was not selected for the ODI series. This omission, especially in the absence of players like Jason Holder and Nicholas Pooran, led to public criticism from his brother, Dwayne Bravo.
On social media, Dwayne called out selector Desmond Haynes for unfair selection criteria and expressed his disappointment, especially given recent changes in West Indies cricket management.
Dwayne also addressed Darren Sammy, the former World champion skipper and current head coach, expressing his disillusionment with the selection process and the lack of fairness and trust in the system. He highlighted Darren’s exceptional talent and statistics, questioning the ongoing mistreatment and dishonesty towards players, and calling for a change in the selection approach.
