Ebadot makes his way back in Bangladesh test side with selectors having dropped Mahmudul Hasan Joy, Tanvir Islam and Tanzim Hasan.
Ebadot Hossain back in Bangladesh squad for SL Tests.
After being included in the 16-man squad for the two Test matches against Sri Lanka later this month, Ebadot Hossain makes his first appearance for Bangladesh in nearly two years. After suffering an injury during an ODI against Afghanistan in July 2023, he underwent ACL surgery but has since healed. After taking a break after the April Zimbabwe series, Litton Das also rejoins the Test team.
Mahmudul Hasan Joy, Tanvir Islam, and Tanzim Hasan have been dropped by the selectors for the Sri Lanka Tests. As he heals from an ankle ailment, Taskin Ahmed could not be ready for the Test series.
But it’s fantastic to see Ebadot back. During the 2024–25 season, he participated in 27 competitive games, including three in the premier division. Last month, he participated in one of those matches against the New Zealand A team that was visiting. Ebadot, 31, has already claimed 42 wickets in 20 Test matches.
Hasan Murad, a left-arm spinner who was included in the squad against South Africa and the West Indies last year, is also back in the Test team. Due to his senior squad tour during the 2024–25 National Cricket League, Murad only participated in three first-class games last season.
The 2025–2027 World Test Championship cycle will begin with a match between Bangladesh and Sri Lanka. In April, Bangladesh’s final Test series against Zimbabwe ended in a draw at home.
Bangladesh’s first Test in Galle begins on June 17, and they are expected to arrive in Sri Lanka on June 13. The Singhalese Sports Club Cricket Ground in Colombo will host the second Test starting on June 25. Three ODIs and three T20Is follow the Tests, and the visit concludes on July 16.
