Uncapped Eyman Fatima in Fatima Sana-led Pakistan squad for women’s World Cup.
For the forthcoming women’s ODI World Cup, Pakistan has selected Eyman Fatima, a 20-year-old batter who has not yet received a cap, to be part of their 15-man squad, which is captained by Fatima Sana. In order to prepare for the World Cup, which begins on September 30, the same team will also play the three home ODIs against South Africa beginning on September 16.
Sana will be captaining her team in an ODI World Cup for the first time. Earlier this year, she had also guided Pakistan in the World Cup qualifying tournament in Lahore.
In place of Gull Feroza and Najiha Alvi, who are among the five non-traveling reserves along with Tuba Hassan, Umm-e-Hani, and Waheeda Akhtar, Eyman Fatima, who was not included in the team for the qualifiers, joins the new squad along with Sadaf Shamas.
Earlier this month, Eyman Fatima made her T20I debut in Dublin against Ireland, however she only batted twice in three games, scoring 23 and 4.
Before the South Africa series begins on August 29, the main squad of 15 and the five reserve players will participate in a 14-day camp under the direction of Muhammad Wasim, the coach. On September 12, South Africa is scheduled to land in Lahore.
On October 2, Pakistan will play their first World Cup match against Bangladesh. On October 5, they will play India. If Pakistan advances to the knockout stages, they will play all seven of their league games in Colombo, as well as the semifinal. Navi Mumbai will host the second semi-final. Depending on whether Pakistan advances or not, the final will take place on November 2 in either Colombo or Navi Mumbai.
