FA to investigate alleged bite instance by Osmajic in the Championship game between Preston and Blackburn on Sunday.
FA is set to undertake a thorough investigation with regards to an alleged bite charge on Milutin Osmajic of Preston.
Allegations are that Milutin Osmajic bit Owen Beck during Preston’s draw with Blackburn on Sunday.
In the latter moments of the goalless draw, a brawl broke out as Beck kicked out at Duane Holmes, with Preston’s Osmajic looking to bite the Blackburn defender on the back of the neck. On loan from Liverpool, Beck was dismissed, and Osmajic received a yellow card.
If Preston’s record signing is accused of biting the 22-year-old and is proved guilty, the punishment could be a lengthy suspension. Luis Suárez, a former striker for Liverpool, bit Branislav Ivanovic of Chelsea in 2013 and was suspended for ten games.
The FA has started its inquiries and is expected to contact the players involved and the two Lancashire clubs. Preston’s manager, Paul Heckingbottom, said after the game: “There’s no place for [biting],” and any such transgression by Osmajic would have to be dealt with.
Preston North End find themselves 21st in the points table, while Blackburn find themselves fourth on the table after 6 games played so far.
