Fakhar Zaman suffers hamstring injury, ruled out of WI series and continue his rehab at the PCB’s Academy in Lahore.
Fakhar ruled out of remainder of West Indies tour with hamstring injury.
After suffering a left hamstring strain during the second Twenty20 International in Lauderhill, Pakistan’s top-order batsman Fakhar Zaman will miss the third Twenty20 International and the forthcoming three-match ODI series against the West Indies. For the third Twenty20 International, Khushdil Shah took his place in the starting lineup.
Fakhar was pursuing a ball in the outfield during the 19th over of the West Indies’ innings when he sustained the injury. His left hamstring was found to have a moderate strain following a follow-up medical evaluation by the team’s support personnel.
The day after the final, which will decide the T20I, on August 4, Fakhar will return to Pakistan after receiving prompt treatment and beginning management, as announced by the PCB. At the National Cricket Academy (NCA) in Lahore, his recuperation would proceed under the guidance of the PCB medical staff. If a replacement player will join the ODI team, the PCB has not yet confirmed.
Fakhar started both of the first two games, although he was unable to get going in either one, scoring goals of 20 and 28.
The 35-year-old Fakhar’s ailment is very similar to a knock he had earlier this year at the beginning of the Champions Trophy. He was disqualified from the competition the next day when he dragged himself off the second ball of the opening game in an attempt to hit a cover drive before pulling up in pain. He was included in the squad at the time to take Saim Ayub’s position, who had also been out for three months after suffering an injury while pursuing a ball to the boundary six weeks prior in South Africa.
The Florida T20I series is knotted at one apiece. Trinidad will host the three ODI matches.
